Rep. John L. Mica (R-FL) asked John M. Snyder for support which Snyder provided in promoting his soldiers’ right to personal self-defense amendment to the National Defense Authorization bill. The proposal would provide that the rules of engagement applicable to armed forces assigned to duty in a hostile service area fully protect the service members’ right to bear arms. The House of Representatives voted 260-160 to include the amendment, passed the underlying appropriations bill, and sent it to the Senate.
SRO Carolyn Gudger of Blountsville, Tennessee was flanked by Ling and John Snyder of Telum Associates, LL.C. as she wore the St. Gabriel Possenti Society, Inc. Medallion at the American Police Hall of Fame (APHF) in Titusville, Florida. Gudger was named APHF 2011 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Last August, Gudger put her own safety in jeopardy to protect the Sullivan Central High School principal and 1.200 students. When an armed suspect threatened lethal violence, Gudger kept her sidearm leveled at the perpetrator until other police officers arrived at the school, relieved Gudger, and shot and killed the perpetrator. “Gudger’s 2010 action shows that handguns can be used to protect the innocent,” said Snyder. “Guns save lives.
