Obama’s presidential record on Second Amendment related issues warrants a concerted effort by the Second Amendment community to terminate Obama’s presidency with the 2012 election.
Several factors render the defeat of Obama a real possibility. These include the rejection of Obama’s policies as indicated by this year’s mid-term elections, Obama’s consistently low ratings in public opinion polls, a weakened economy, and principled opposition to Obama’s policies by gun rights organizations and right to life organizations as well as other public interest groups.
The 2012 election now is less than 24 months away. By Christmas, it will be less than 23 months away. By New Year’s Day, it will be only 22 months away. Although we’ve just experienced a wave election, it’s time to gear up for the next wave, and wash Obama and his ilk completely out of policy-making positions in Washington, D.C.
Recently, Obama once again unfurled his true colors as an anti-gun ideologue with his appointment of a career anti-gun bureaucrat as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).
Obama’s most recent back-handed attack on law-abiding firearm owners could prove critical as America begins to gear up for the 2012 campaign,” Snyder added. “It certainly will solidify opposition to his presidency.
The Obama appointee, Andrew Traver, special agent in charge of BATFE’s Chicago office, has a history of anti-gun owner activity. He participated in the 2007 anti-gun Great Lakes Summit on Gun Violence put on by the anti-gun International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) with the support of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation.
As an IACP advisor on its so-called Gun Violence Reduction Project, Traver worked to mischaracterize semiautomatic firearms as “assault weapons” in a duplicitous attempt to get Congress to ban them. He worked with IACP to attack gun shows through the promotion of onerous regulations in an attempt to undermine or eliminate them. He worked with IACP to promote repeal of privacy provisions of the Tiahrt amendment, which provisions protect law-abiding firearms manufacturers and dealers from harassing third-party lawsuits by anti-gun local officials.
The Traver selection is just the latest in a series of obamanistic anti-gun appointments. His two selections for the Supreme Court as well as his selection of an Attorney General have put him at odds with American gun owners. So have a number of his other appointments. So has his support for an anti-gun Inter-American arms covenant. So has his support for an anti-gun United Nations treaty.
Obama is bad news. He and politicians like him have got to go.
